The Costume Transmogrifier is a tool item. Using it on any Scream Fortress 2013 cosmetic item replaces the item with a random cosmetic item, equippable by the respective class, although all-class items cannot be obtained. The item's level and quality remain intact, therefore a Haunted item so transformed changes into a Haunted item of the appropriate class.

Upon loading the game, the items are removed from the backpack. The items remain in the backpack for those who haven't launched the game since the date labeled on the item.
