This item was initially awarded in Unique quality to players who first played Team Fortress 2 from 00:00 October 10, 2008 (UTC) to 23:59 April 22, 2010 (UTC). Currently, this item is given to new players who installed the game after the initial release of the medals.
Vintage variant of this item exists not because of the Mannconomy Update, but because there was a bug where people's items would disappear and people would complain to Steam Support and they would get their items back in Vintage quality.
